    Stories from the road

    #Challenge

On 21 July 2023, our first World Youth Day group will be heading off to Lisbon, Portugal. Close to 170 people; youth, young adults, leaders, teachers, clergy, religious, together with Bishop Anthony will be travelling on pilgrimage – all on a life-making journey to the great gathering of young people from around the world in Portugal.

Capturing the stories of our people is important. We invite all communities at home to journey with us through a #challenge. Many communities throughout Broken Bay have come together to support, fundraise and encourage our travellers. You are all part of the journey – and all part of the storytelling.

    Our Spirit

To capture our amazing Diocesan community spirit, we will once again be running a Hashtag Challenge(#BBWYDChallenge) throughout the pilgrimage dates. This is a WYD project, but not just for thosetravelling overseas – we want you people in Broken Bay to be part of the fun … students, parents, teachers, religious, and clergy.
    Yes, ALL OF YOU!

    Get Started

To get started, make sure you have an account with at least one participatory social media; FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter (don’t worry if you only use one – as long as you have a way to see the posted Challenges).

Each day throughout the pilgrimage, a post will appear on social media with your daily Challenge; including the Hashtags you need to use for the day, and some reflections to inspire your spirit. Take a photo and/or write a short reflection about the day that really captures where, and how, you are on the journey.

You can then share your photo on Facebook, lnstagram or Twitter, or all three! To share on lnstagram orTwitter, just upload with the hashtags for the day and you’re done. To share on Facebook, upload to your personal page or share onto our Facebook Pages. Add some thoughts if you wish and any shout-outs to friends away or at home. Have some fun and put your heart into it.

Invite friends and family, in Australia or overseas, anyone who might like to participate or follow our journey. Get them on board! If you use social media – then this is for you. And even if you don’t… highlights from each day will be shared on the Diocesan website (www.bbcatholic.org.au). Not only will we be able to step into the world of our pilgrims, but they will be able to see how we are travelling back home. #bbwyd
